Working with Lyon College

Lyon College is a USN&WR “top tier” national liberal arts college and recognized by Forbes as “One of America’s Top Colleges.” Affiliated with the Presbyterian Church (USA), it is located in the foothills of the Ozarks in Batesville, Arkansas. The College enrolls approximately 600 undergraduate students from thirty-two states and nineteen foreign countries. Founded in 1872, the College is one of the oldest institutions of higher education in Arkansas and offers undergraduates exceptional preparation for their post-baccalaureate objectives, particularly in STEM fields, Business, Economics and Accounting, and the Arts. The Lyon College Biology program is recognized as the top biology program among private colleges in Arkansas, and the College’s average medical school acceptance rate is more than twice the national average at 87% annually. Lyon College is developing the Lyon College Institute of Health Sciences in Little Rock, Arkansas, which will administratively house the Lyon College School of Dental Medicine and the Lyon College School of Veterinary Medicine.

Lyon College School of Dental Medicine

The primary mission of the Lyon College School of Dental Medicine is to educate practitioners of Dentistry capable of meeting the general oral health needs of the communities they serve. Integral parts of the mission are research and other scholarly activity, patient care, leadership in dental education and organized dentistry, and collaboration and participation with other units within the Lyon Institute of Health Sciences, Lyon College, and collaborative stakeholder groups.

Lyon College School of Veterinary Medicine

Lyon College School of Veterinary Medicine’s mission is to cultivate competent and confident day one graduates who are not only career-ready but also future-ready. Through fostering critical, creative thought and ethical growth, they will be leaders who are innovative, adaptive problem solvers and disruptors inspired as lifelong learners and citizens. Enlightened by experiential and collaborative learning, they will be positioned for fulfilling and meaningful professional and personal lives, as they serve the profession and society. These goals will be accomplished in a student-centered environment with a focus on opening the minds of the students on day one, helping them understand how to learn and adjust their approaches to learning, motivating, and integrating.
