Building a Veterinary School

The Lyon College School of Veterinary Medicine is building a world-class veterinary school from the ground up. The campus will feature state-of-the-art facilities, including a teaching hospital, research labs, and classrooms designed for both small- and large-animal veterinary education.

Leadership

Dr. Eleanor Green, Founding Dean
Dr. Eleanor Green is a nationally recognized leader in veterinary medicine with more than 30 years of experience in academic leadership, clinical practice, and veterinary education reform. As the founding dean of the Lyon College School of Veterinary Medicine, Dr. Green is committed to transforming veterinary education to better serve animals, communities, and the profession as a whole. She brings a wealth of expertise to her role, having previously served in leadership positions at other prestigious veterinary schools and institutions. Dr. Green’s vision for the Lyon College School of Veterinary Medicine is grounded in innovation, collaboration, and a strong commitment to preparing the next generation of veterinary professionals for the future of the field. Her leadership will ensure that the school not only meets but exceeds the expectations of students, faculty, and the broader veterinary community.

 

Dr. Ashley Mounts, Associate Dean for Clinical Programs and Outreach
Dr. Ashley Mounts is an experienced veterinary educator and clinician who brings extensive experience in clinical training and community outreach to her role as Associate Dean for Clinical Programs and Outreach. Dr. Mounts is responsible for overseeing the school’s clinical partnerships and ensuring that students receive diverse, high-quality hands-on training experiences. She works closely with local and regional veterinary practices, shelters, and other healthcare organizations to create impactful clinical rotation opportunities for students. Dr. Mounts is also dedicated to community outreach and enhancing access to veterinary care, particularly in underserved areas. Her leadership ensures that Lyon College’s veterinary students graduate not only with clinical competence but also with a strong sense of professional responsibility and empathy for the communities they serve.
